Working definition
AI-assisted development in which an agent can take actions such as inspecting files, editing code, running commands, and checking results.
In a project brief, use this term to identify a concrete responsibility or observable behavior. Avoid treating vocabulary as proof that an implementation is complete. Product publishers can use similar labels for different workflows, so connect the term to the actual files, environment, people, and data involved.
Require evidence of completed checks
Tool access does not prove that tests or browser checks passed. Ask which commands ran, their results, which environment was used, and what remains unverified. Keep changes reviewable, preserve a recoverable version, and review any action that affects production data or external services.
Write one acceptance check that another person can repeat. Record the input, expected behavior, actual result, and environment. A useful check should fail visibly if the requirement is not met. These are editorial evaluation suggestions, not results from a cross-tool benchmark performed by this publication.
Use the definition in a real decision
Read the connected guide and relevant tool profile before committing to a platform. Verify current capabilities and plan requirements in the official documentation. If a requirement affects personal data, money, or a business-critical process, have an appropriate technical reviewer inspect it.
This Macaly-operated reference distinguishes definitions from product claims. Its featured recommendation is affiliated editorial opinion, not an independent certification. The goal is to make the brief and handoff more precise, not to imply that knowing a term removes engineering responsibility.
